High-Tech Metal and Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces are similar to metal braces, but they are tooth colored making them less visible. However, they are stronger than metal and can wear your teeth easily when biting on them, so we only use them on the top teeth (the teeth other people will see).
Early Treatment
Digital Impressions
- It is an intra-oral scanner that captures thousands of small images of the dental anatomy, including the mouth, teeth, and gums.
- From start to finish, the process takes about 10 minutes.
- Once done, the 3D model can be used to diagnose oral health issues and plan treatment.
Retainers
After the active portion of treatment is over, you move into the retention phase. This phase is designed to keep the teeth held in their ideal positions while they firm up in place—in other words, while the gums and bone get used to their new positions. For about three months after treatment, retainers will be worn pretty much full time. After that, they will be worn during nights only.
There are several types of retainers that can be used. However, not all are suited to every patient. We are happy to provide most types of retainers and can fabricate them the same day as requested in most cases. Dr. Young is happy to discuss the different options available for keeping your teeth straight, and recommend those which fit your bite best.
